The Biathlon Centre named after Tikhonov is located in Uvat village of the Tyumen region. Alexander Tikhonov is a prominent Soviet biathlete, four-time Olympic champion.
Uvat land traditionally holds Russian Biathlon championships.
The centre holds trainings of the Tyumen region biathlon teams all year round.
The Russian Cup for the Tyumen region Governor`s prize first took place at the Uvat biathlon stadium.
The complex is allowed to hold international competitions. In 2013 the centre was a venue for the IBSA Ski Racing World Championship. There is a Grand Hotel Uvat nearby, which accommodates sportsmen who take part in pre-season trainings and competitions.
The centre hosts Russian Biathlon Championships and Russian Biathlon Cups.
There is a sport school on the base of the centre, where they are preparing sports reserve in ski racing and biathlon.
The infrastructure of the centre is ideal for teams` thorough preparation for tournaments.

The Biathlon centre named after Tikhonov in Uvat village

The complex was opened in 2000, and in 2008 it was allowed to hold the Russian Biathlon Championship. The centre obtained a B-licence of the Internationan Biathlon Union.

The center was named after the Soviet biathlete, four-time Olympic champion, Alexander Tikhonov, in 2008.

The complex is equipped with routes, a shooting range and the necessary sport infrastructure. In addition, skiing and roller skiing competitions, cyclo-cross and cultural entertaining events can take place in this centre as well. There is a sporting school on the base of the centre.

The centre has hosted Russian Biathlon Championships many times, and from 1996 to 2012 it held All-Russian races for the Tyumen region Governor`s prize.

Next to the centre, in the Grand Hotel Uvat (Uvat village, Sportivnaya St.), there is a brunch of the Uvat local history museum, exposition A.Tikhonov, the Legend of the World Biathlon. The exposition is created by Museum-Studio LTD, on the base of the collection presented by A.Tikhonov. It is placed in one of the halls, and it tells a story of life, sporting achievements and hobbies of the biathlete. The history of his Olympic triumph is represented as a skiing track, with 4 pedestals with holograms of his gold medals. A multimedia screen, which looks like a scoreboard, displays videos and photos. There are also sporting relics of Mister Biathlon (this title A.Tikhonov received from his French colleagues in 1977).

The second half of the exposition is dedicated to hobbies of the biathlete, not connected with sports. Collection of cold weapon and firearms, a wolf skin, the materials of the hockey and horse clubs, hockey sticks with signatures of the participants of the legendary matches the USSR – Canada, 1972 and 1974. There are also his friends` presents for his 60s birthday, works of art from Tikhonov`s collection and the Presidential Certificate of Honour for his contribution to the Sochi Olympics organization.
