Tyumen Sports Facilities

Annually Tyumen region hosts about 400 large-scale competitions in various sports.
The region has adopted a two-tier model for sports facilities.
The average efficiency of the sports facilities usage in the Tyumen region is 87.13%, but it is worth noting that in all subregional districts and small town areas it is higher than 100%.
The number of sports facilities in the region is 3037, including: planar structures - 1473, gyms - 819, other rooms for trainings 518, ski lodges and biathlon complexes – 59, pools 58, shooting pavilions and shooting ranges – 72, sports stadiums with artificial ice - 4, arenas – 2, 1 rowing canal and 31 stadiums.
The Region actively launches the buildings, or so called module bases, installed near the ski lodges. Such constructions allow creating full sports facilities on the basis of the existing structures.
In order to develop mass sports in the local communities, 97 modular buildings with dressing rooms and 31 hockey courts have been launched since 2007.
Since 2010 Tyumen regularly hosts international competitions in Tsentralniy Sport Complex: Greco-Roman Wrestling Grand Prix Ivan Poddubny; World Dance Sport Championships 2013; European Judo Championships 2012, etc.
2090 specialists with higher education are in charge of sport recreational activities, that is 78% of the total.
Besides the main sports organizations, new centers of sports and recreation activities for the local communities were opened in 2003 as a part of the sport-orientating program.

Tyumen sport complexes regularly host regional, Russian and international competitions. The centres fit all modern standards and are accessible for disabled people.

The winter sport centre The Pearl of Siberia is ready to host competitions of the highest level in different kinds of sports: ski racing, biathlon, sport orienteering and cycle racing. In the future, other sports will be added to the list. So far, the center has held the European championship, the 2014 World Cup final in sport orienteering in skiing, and the 2011 and 2014 Russian Ski Racing Championships. The centre regularly hosts the international biathlon tournament The Tyumen Region Governor`s Prize, the international ski racing competitions Tyumen Cup, and many others. One more sporting venue is the Biathlon Centre named after Tikhonov, in Uvat village. It has hosted Russian biathlon championships many times, and held All-Russian races for the Tyumen region Governor`s prize from 1996 to 2012. The Olympic centre Tyumen Judo has the venue for the 2011 World Judo Championship in the open-weight category, the 2010 Russian Karate Championship, and others. Sport Centre Tsentralny regularly hosts competitions of the highest level, such as the international Greco-Roman tournament Grand-Prix of Ivan Poddubny, the European Judo Championship among juniors under 23, the International Karate Championship Karate 1 Premier League, and others.

When the centres are not hosting any national or international competitions, they are used as venues for training sportsmen and local amateurs.
