In the past, the estate consisted of a stone house with the yard buildings. It is an architectural monument of the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries. The villa is famous for its rich interior and exterior décor.
The museum was opened in 1994. The permanent exposition, Family Album, is devoted to family routine of the end of the 19th century. At the excursion to the interior of the town house of the end of the 19th-beginning of the 20th centuries, visitors can see genuine objects of the past epoch and find out about rules and etiquette of a traditional Tyumen family upbringing.
The hosts of the house often had parties, which resembled ones of high society, often with impromptu concerts. In the museum there is a genuine replica of the interior of the house: a living-room, a study, a dining-room, a bedroom and a children`s room, and also household rooms in the basement. The inside of the rooms provides a lot of information about the tastes of Tyumen merchant families a century ago. An elegant decor of ovens and the fireplace, a well thought-out planning and the decoration of small cosy rooms attract a visitor’s attention. In the museum there is a variety of cast iron items produced by the Masharov`s factory.
In addition to the current exposition, in the museum there are photo exhibitions of historic Tyumen and its residents. In the living-room of the Masharovs` house, in the chamber atmosphere of the cosy living-room, music and lyrical events are held.
